Start your game Invited? Here's how to join.

Playable on phone, tablet, laptop and desktop · Your first game is free.

It's this simple.

Nothing to install. Only one person pays. You'll be at the round table in three steps.

1

Start a game

One player, the host, starts a game and gets a game code. The first game is free.

2

Invite your group

Share the code or link on WhatsApp. Guests click, pick a name and role and are seated within a minute. Free, no account needed. Guests may invite others too, using the same code. Twelve players at the table? Full = full.

3

Play and survive

Treasoners — saboteurs — hide among you. Solve missions together. Grab a weapon from the vault. Scheme around the castle and vote for a Treasoner at the council. Who makes the finale?

Host or guest — who does what?

Only the host pays and starts a game. The first game is free. Everyone who gets invited plays for free and may invite more friends into the same game.

The host organises

You start a game

  • Start the game. Play with your credit — the first game is free.
  • Share the game code or link with five to eleven friends.
  • You decide when it begins: once there are enough players and everyone is ready, you press start.
  • Then you simply play along as one of the players. Roles are dealt in secret — even you know nothing, and you have no advantage over anyone else.
The guest

You're invited — you join for free

  • Click the link or enter the game code you got from a player.
  • Pick a name. No photo needed. No account. No payment.
  • Feel free to invite someone else with the same code — do check with the host, until the table is full at twelve players.
  • After your first game you can create a free account to keep your rank, seals and results. That's how you build a reputation in The Shadowlands of Treason Night — and the more you play, the closer you get to a nice discount on the real-life game in Ommen, the Netherlands. Optional, never required.

Two sides, one table

At the start, everyone secretly receives a role. Nobody knows who is what. That's where the betrayal begins.

The Trusties

The loyal majority. But who can you believe?

  • Talk, listen and watch for anyone acting suspicious or saying strange things.
  • Work together in missions — or sabotage as a Treasoner — and win weapons from the vault.
  • At the council, vote out the most suspicious person as a Treasoner.
  • You win when every Treasoner is unmasked. That earns points for your profile and can push you up a rank.

The Treasoners

One or two Treasoners, hidden in the group.

  • Pose as a loyal Trusty and mislead everyone.
  • Survive the councils and strike in the murder round. Nobody knows you're behind the murder — unless you slip up.
  • Choose the victim together with the other Treasoner. Or alone, if you're the only one.
  • Sow doubt and steer the vote the other way — without standing out. You win by reaching the finale undetected.
Mission Scheme around the castle Council — vote Murder round Council … until the finale

A game takes about one to one and a half hours, depending on the number of players. Eliminated? You stay on as a shade: watching, doing missions, passing weapons and scheming along. Nobody sits idle at the round table.

Build your name and reputation

Every game builds your name, your character and your reputation in The Shadowlands.

🏰

20 ranks

There are twenty ranks. Everyone starts at the bottom as a Stable hand. The more you play, the higher you climb. Past Gatekeeper and Musketeer, up to the highest rank: De Elmerier.

⚔️

Seals

Every victory and every game played earns you seals. A full seal card is rewarded with a discount on the real live experience in Ommen, the Netherlands.

🛡️

Reputation & stats

Win as a Treasoner. Win as a Trusty. Finish games and build reputation in The Shadowlands of Treason Night. Your game history, friends and achievements will live together on one profile.

How far will you get?

Few ever reach the twentieth rank. Can you survive a full table as the lone Treasoner? Unmask the betrayal three games in a row? Your name is starting to spread through the community. The rest is up to you.

Fair pricing

Only the host pays. No subscription. No cost for your guests. Creating an account and building reputation is entirely optional.
You buy 1 game or a pack of several games. Your credit stays saved until you use it: a credit is only spent the moment you have at least 5 other players and press start the game. So only when there are enough players and the host presses start.

1 game is playable with 6 to 12 players and takes about one to one and a half hours, depending on the players. You'll soon pay on this website, safely through Mollie (iDEAL, cards and more) — your credit then appears instantly in your game account. All prices include VAT. Living outside the Netherlands? Within the EU, your own country's VAT rate applies automatically; the displayed price stays the same. Couldn't gather six players this time? No problem. Your credit simply stays saved.

As little hassle as possible

Play first. An account comes later — only if you want one.

Playing as a guest — no account

Invited? Then you join right away as a guest. All you need is a name. No account. No payment.

After your first full game we ask once whether you'd like a free account. It saves your rank, seals, statistics and the players you've met. Say no? Then your guest profile is kept for another 30 days. After that, your progress starts fresh.

Account created — now what?

  1. With your account you join any table you're invited to. Also later, on any device.
  2. Want to host a game yourself? Then pick one of the packs inside the game. Your first game as host is free. After that: one credit is one game. Checkout runs safely through Mollie on this website; your credit appears instantly in your game account.
  3. A credit is only spent when you, as host, truly start a game. So only when there are enough players and you press start.

Your progress travels with you

Log in on your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop and your profile is ready. Your rank, seals, statistics, friends and played games are all saved. That's how you build your reputation in and around the castle forest of Treason Night.

Where do I create an account?

Inside the game itself. Right in your browser, and later in the app too. Not on this website. An account is only needed if you want to save your progress — joining as a guest works without one.

From a real castle forest

The castle forest is the world where Treason Night takes place: The Shadowlands of Treason Night.

Treason Night grew out of De Geheimelingen: a live social betrayal game that has been played for years in Ommen, the Netherlands. Real people. Real campfires. Real betrayal. Groups are immersed for a day or an entire weekend in a social deduction experience full of roles, missions, alliances, accusations and round tables.

This online version brings that same tension to your screen. The same roles. The same scheming. The same question at the table: who do you still trust?

Want the real thing?

Play the live experience in the Netherlands — overnight stay in the forest included.

Frequently asked questions

What do I have to pay?
Only the host who starts the game pays. The host invites the rest, and those players join for free.

Want to split the costs? You can arrange that among yourselves, for example with a payment request. That happens outside this website — we are not responsible for payments between players.
How many players do we need?
You start a game with at least six and at most twelve players.

Someone drops out along the way? The game simply continues as long as at least five players remain active. So you can't start with five, but the game can carry on if someone drops out after starting with six.
What happens if someone drops out?
Their seat stays reserved for a moment. The player can return within three minutes and keeps the same role. The game never waits and can't be held hostage by one person.

Not back within three minutes? Then that player can be banished from the table. If they return later with a good connection, they can watch and join in as a shade — but no longer play actively at the table.

Is it the host who drops out? As a shade, the host can still start rounds. If the host never returns, a random player receives the host label. You can always see who the host is by the letter H next to one player's name.

Does a started game break off due to an outage on our side? Then we restore the host's game credit. Played results may not be saved to your reputation in case of an outage.
What if we can't find six players?
It's best to gather your players first and start a game after that.

Still short? Then the game won't start and your credit simply stays saved. Credits are only used the moment a game truly begins, at the role deal. Can't gather enough players right now? Just try again another time.
Can I play from the couch with people far away?
Yes — that's exactly the point. Everyone plays on their own screen, anywhere in the world. You talk to each other through the game itself. Which language you speak is up to you. Do make sure you have a good internet connection.
What's the minimum age?
You can play from age 16. To buy game credits you must be 18, or have your parents' permission.
Which languages is the game available in?
The game is available in Dutch, English, Spanish and German.
Where do I pay — and is it safe?
You'll buy game credits on this website. Payment runs through Mollie, a certified Dutch payment platform (iDEAL, cards and more). Your payment details go directly to Mollie — we never see or store your bank details. After payment, your credit is instantly available in your game account, ready to start a game in your browser or, later, in the app.
How does VAT work if I live outside the Netherlands?
All prices include VAT. For buyers within the EU, your own country's VAT rate applies automatically (we handle this through the EU scheme for digital services); the displayed price stays the same. Outside the EU no EU VAT applies, so the final amount may differ slightly. You always see the final amount before you pay.
